Is there a way to get rid of the library view in Windows 7 and just go back to the tree view of earlier versions of Windows? I find it very distracting, and I arrange my files in one partition. I really have no need of these libraries.

OK, thanks. I got the download and the registry hack is just a one-click operation.

Right now my two options (getting used to the library view isn't one of them ;) ) are purchasing an explorer substitute which I really like (i've got a trial version)--Explorer2, and clicking on the registry hack and just using WIndows Explorer.

Problem with sticking with Windows Explorer is that I like using WIndows search and its doc preview, but I don't like that preview open when I browse for files normally, so I'm constantly clicking that preview pane on and off. If I get an explorer substitute, I just keep that preview pane on, and then use it for Windows search.

OK thanks wildfire I was seriously doubting that there was a way out of the library.

No problem, happy to help. I can't assist with explorer replacements though. To be honest I saw the need for them (file managers) in DOS/Win 3.x days but since 95 I've been happy with what MS offered so have no real experience.
