I have a Sony laptop. I ran an update of Windows Vista as I have done so many times. However this time the laptop rebooted and then came up with the following error : File CI.dll failed to load or is missing. Prior to that it came up with the error CLFS.sys File missing. Then the system comes up with a black screen........even worse than the blue screen of death. I tried to run the recovery disc but to no avail. I then decided to boot with the original Vista and reinstall. I get to where it's starts loading and then it comes up with the CI.dll error again.

I have also gone into the Boot Manager screen and ran bootrec /fixboot which seems to have fixed the CLFS.sys error. Can anyone give me some advice as I have never encountered this error before. Cheers Mark

When I searched I came across the same websites I found here
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-vista/85166-vista-automatically-updated-now-wont-load-up.html

You have done the "fix ", look at the other suggestions on those websites. If it seems to be caused by Windows Updates go to the motherboard/system manufacturer's website and get any updated drivers and software, if some of the software is supplied by them.

You might need to run a Vista Startup Repair. Read in Help and Support.
