    Hi. My first post.

It started with a simple desire to move a website to a different machine. But when copying the files, I get an error message that upload.php is corrupt at which point the system apparently stops copying. When I tried again using 7zip instead of Windows, I got the same message and the additional tip to run chkdsk. That's the backstory.

    1. How do I control whether chkdsk is 'read-only' or not?
    2. How do I get chkdsk to slow down so I can read the **** thing? I tried the pause key, but when it gets to the last line it instantly closes down.
    3. On the MS site, it says there are 4 exit codes, but what little I can see of the last message does not fit those 4 codes.
    4. I saw in a couple of different places that I can run chkdsk by right clicking on my computer -> properties -> tools. Well, I don't have a tools tab there. I have no idea why or how to make it show up.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have Windows SBS 2003 on this machine. But I have XP Pro on another, and neither one has that tools tab that the instructions say should be there for the gui way to start chkdsk. How do I add that, or for that matter, any other hidden feature?

    Thanks for the urls.

You have to open My Computer, right click on the C: drive and select Properties. There you will find the Tools tab.

No, that's just it, the tools tab IS NOT THERE. How do I make it show up?
