I am being asked to run this utility for a corrupt file but I can't find it to run. I have Windows XP Pro. Where would I find this utility?

    Thanks.

    running chkdsk...

    Anne,

You run 'chkdsk' from the command line. Click 'Start', the select 'Run', then type in "chkdsk /r" (without the quotes, and note the space between the k and the forward slash). There will be a message that states the drive is locked (in use) and ask if you want to run chkdsk the next time the computer is rebooted. Select 'yes' then reboot your computer. Chkdsk will run before windows starts, it may take a few minutes (so be patient). For more information open Windows 'Help' on the start menu and search for 'chkdsk'. There's a very through explaination of chkdsk and all its options.

Anne--Mr. B's advice is totally correct, but you may be more comfortable to know that Chkdsk is more or less the old ScanDisk. And you can also find it in the same place--Left click on My Computer|Right Click on your Local Drive(probably C:\)|Properties|Tools|Error checking.
P.S. If running Chkdsk does not solve the problem, post back and tell us what file is corrupt.
