check boxes have wierd design

    today all of a sudden any where that i have a check box there is a wierd design in it. the problem is i cant tell if a box is checked or not. any help would be appreiciated.

    - What service pack?
    - Do you have any accessibility options set? Maybe accidental so take a look.
    - Any entries in your event logs around the time things changed that look as if they might be related?
    - Are you using the standard English character set or some other one?

    Things you might want to try. Could help and won't hurt:

    - From a cmd window chkdsk /r and when it offers to do the job at next boot, reboot.

    - Then from a cmd window sfc /scannow (which will require your install CD) and then reapply SP3 (or apply it if you hadn't installed it yet).
