when I get an e-mail newsletter that has a chart I only see a red x where the chart should appear. I click on the message at the top of the e-mail that tell me I should click to download the pictures but it only shows a picture of the title on the page, not the chart picture. Is there something else blocking this?

rondom--Is this happening only with the one email newsletter?
If so, you might contact the sender and report the problem. The image may not be sent properly. (Can you check any other people for their experience?)Another idea is that the image is coming from some site that you have blocked with a HOSTS file or something else (like your firewall). Right click on the redX|Properties. What do you see in the "Address" box?
If this were happening more generally, there could be many other reasons.

    And then there is

It seems the red x is at my computer not the sender, as I get it from more than one sender e-mail. I have checked my settings as well as the firewall, which I eliminated in order to check for images. It does not occur on web sites, only e-mails. I don't remember when it started but I have recently replaced Norton AV 2005 with Microsoft One care. I also have Microsoft Defender and I use Ad-Aware.

rondom--There are several settings in OE which can block images.
    Tools|Options:
Read tab: Uncheck "Read all Messages in Plain Text "
Security tab: Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened... "
Send tab: HTML Settings Uncheck "Send messages with pictures ". (I know this seems to apply to sent messages, but it can also affect receiving messages.)
    If none of this helps

You do not report if any of the earlier suggestions helped. For example, right clicking |Properties on the RedX to see what is in the Address line.
You could also Repair IE (which affects OE as well)

Right clicking the red x did not show an option to see properties. I had the sender also send me the e-mail to a yahoo e-mail address and it had the same results, with red x. Doesn't that eliminate the problem as having anything to do with outlook express and/or my isp Alltel? Haven't tried the repair yet but may do that next.
