On occasion I have found that the fssm32.exe process part of F-Secures suite gets hung up and crashes when scanning a particular file. Even when scheduled scanning is not activated, apparently this process scans all of the drives present on the system. Today fssm32 just locked up my system...I had to terminate it manually and looked in Event Viewer to see what might be happening. The security suite process was crashing repeatedly when scanning an Ashampoo program on my storage drive. I scanned this with several other malware and virus scanners and found no issues at all...Ashampoo is not known for such things anyway. I added this file to the excluded items list for scans, closed the security suite and rebooted with a Chkdsk just in case. Issue solved. This has happened about 3 times in recent years...all different software files...all non-infected. If this process ***** up your system, check Event Viewer first after terminating the process...you may very well find the culprit.
