Changing system name in xp home

    I had someone set up this computer and they put their initals for the system name. Is there a way to change to my name?

    Hi, Bimmer Guy. :)

    Perhps you're referring to the following location:

    • Open "My Computer" (may be located in your "Start" menu or an icon on your desktop).
    • Right-click anywhere on the empty part of the My Computer window.
    • Select Properties.
      (This will open your "System Properties" window.)
    • Select the "Computer Name" tab.
    • Click the "Change" button.
    • Edit the "Computer name:" field.

    EDIT: Here's a quicker (but perhaps harder to remember unless you use it often) way to get to the "System Properties" window:

    Hold down your Windows Key and press the Pause Key. :)
