    Hi
I'm using MSN's emailing and when replying to emails or writing new ones I'll be typing away and my font will change, also sometimes the cursor will be way ahead or behind where I'm typing
Can anyone tell me what is going on?

    Merry Christmas

In descending order of probability and assuming that all else on the PC is working perfectly
    - spyware
    - virus
    - corrupt software load

    Hi Newt
I'm running Spywareblaster, SpywareGuard, AdAware is clean and Spybot shows nothing all are up to date.
I use McAfee online so I'm auto updated there whenever there is an update and scans come up clean.

Could it be the font I'm useing? they are all OEM fonts, nothing that I downloaded. (Have not downloaded any fonts at all)
    Would Defrag help?

Well, I personally think defrag can't hurt and may help performance but I don't think it will make this issue go away.

Two things to try here before we dig into the system - a couple of general fix-up things.

First, open a cmd prompt then key in chkdsk /r and enter. Answer yes to running the scan at next boot then reboot.

When the system is running again, start => run, key in
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    and OK.

    Hi Newt
Did that and it seems to be working OK now?
The sfc scan did not show anything? Don't kmow if it was to show any kind of log or not?
Maybe the chkdsk fixed what ever the problem was?
    Thanks for your help.

Both chkdsk and sfc write details to your event logs so start => run => eventvwr.msc and take a look.

    Glad it helped.

    Hi Newt
Well it did it again, I don't know what the problem is. It was working OK then it wasn't?
I typed about three words and the font changed and the cursor was about four letters behind where I was typing.

Geri - is the MSN email piece the only thing on the PC that is behaving badly?

How much fix-up and replacement work did chkdsk and sfc do on the PC?

If you haven't done so very recently, empty your browser's temporary internet files and cookies then in My Computer, right-click each of your drives, click properties, and the Disk Cleanup button then clean. Note that if you don't do this pretty regularly several pieces will seem to take so long to run that you think the PC is hung. It isn't so just wait it out.

    Hi Newt
Yes as far as I know.
Umm, Not sure, Can you tell me where to check that?
The "event log" really doesn't tell me anything, My Clock is not synchronized?
I do this at least once a month along with Check disk and defrag. (my C Drive)
