Is it possible to change another users desktop picture from within my account? I am the administrator of the computer and all other users have limited accounts. Where is the setting stored?

    Thanks in advance.:)

Only by logging on as the user.

The background is stored in the registry hive ntuser.dat, unique to each user profile.

In a Domain you could force the background with Group Policy, but I suspect we are talking about a non-Domain setting.

    Registry

Can you be more specific regarding how to edit the registry to reflect the picture change? Thanks

    Code:
;wallpaper.cmd [b]Example of a logon script push of wallpaper changes[/b]
    ;-------------------------
    copy \\share_server_name\share_name\Windows\Your_wallpaper.bmp c:\windows\ /y
    copy \\share_server_name\share_name\wallpaper\wallpaper.reg c:\windows\ /y
    regedit /s c:\windows\wallpaper.reg
    ;------------------------- End of example

    ;wallpaper.reg -- Registry settings
    -------------------------
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

     "Wallpaper "= "C:\\WINDOWS\\Your_wallpaper.bmp "
     "WallpaperStyle "= "0 "
     "TileWallpaper "= "0 "

; Note - Wallpaper must be .BMP and not .JPG

    Confused

Okay, I am a little confused. If I am going under the CURRENTUSER key in the registry, it is showing my wallpaper settings, not the person I want to change. Am I missing something?

    I did explain:

. Logon as the user and change the wallpaper; or,
. Add the script above to the user logon script.

The HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive is drawn in the main from NTUSER.DAT, a file located in the User profile.
