I have one or two Desktop Icons that are showing as plain folder type. Can these Icons be changed to show a design?

Right click the folder icon and in the menu that opens, left click Properties.

In the Properties window, on the Customize tab, click the Change Icon button, find a design you like, select it, click OK.

Miz, my thanks for your prompt assistance. It certainly worked on one instance, but another two icons only showed its own original design with no other alternative available in broswer window.

If the icons you want to change are the standard Windows ones....Computer, Recycle Bin, etc....right click an empty space on the desktop and in the menu that opens, left click Personalize.

In the window that opens, in the left-hand pane, click on "Change Desktop icon. "

In the new window that opens, click once on the icon you want to change, then click the "Change Icon" button, select the one you like, click OK and OK again.

Miz, again thank you. Desktop Icons that I wish to change are software like LibreOffice, Auslogic Disk Defrag, HP DeskJet.

For program that offer only one icon in its own program files, right click, choose Properties>Shortcut tab>Change Icon button

In the window that opens up at the top in the field for "Look for icons in this file," type (or copy and paste from here) %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll then press the Enter key on the keyboard.

That will let you choose from the icons that come with Windows.

If you don't like any of those, there are free icons available for download on the net. Just be careful when choosing what you download. Many of the "free packages" of icons come packed with spyware...and worse.

Miz, as you would say, just what the Doctor ordered. Followed your instructions, and found icons to suit my purpose and install new desktop icons. Many thanks.
