    Hi Folks,
I've been playing with this problem for a few days now and am out of ideas that can do what I want except through "fooling" Win 7.

    1) I've had the same cursors since Win 95 and want to use them still! These are the very same files' extensions as are used now.

    2) While there is a feature in the Control Panel to change cursor sizes and (3 different) colors this feature is "locked" within its own narrow parameters.

The only way I'm seeing to get around the Win 7 default settings is to rename the 3 default sizes and colors cursors ( i.e. "cursor.cur" to "cursor-2.cur ") and rename my preferred cursor to the default name. Sooooo, does anyone out there know which is which in the Cursors list???
And does anyone out there have any other ideas???

    MANY Thanks in advance... Mark

Have you tried running as administrator? Right click on it and choose Run as Administrator.

    Try this .....

Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers - Browse and browse to the location where you have the old cursors saved and select the one you want.

    Hi Folks,
First of all thank you for your responses.....
I am the administrator and Win 7 seems to always recognize this. This is my Home computer and I have it locked down tight (as tight as is humanly possible) and know when someone has tried to invade it.
I do have my favorites loaded in my own "cursor theme" and have physically "upped-the sized" the cursors using my cursor editor.
My real problem here is that these cursors are appearing as "small" despite the fact that I've tripled their original size! I don't seem to find any display function within Win 7 itself to scale the cursor sizes other than the default cursors, and then, only in small, medium or large-white, black, variegated (?). Re-size: Desktop icons? Yes! Resolution? Yes! Font size? Yes! Cursor size? NO!
I will try the link provided and will be back again <G>.
    Many thanks.... Mark

YOU may be the administrator, but there are some things that to run right, you have to right click and choose "Run as administrator" for them to run completely.

I've tried several different ways to change the cursor-- if you compare choices in XP to 7, you find there are fewer choices. I think Microsoft made changes for the sake of laptops, and thus kept some things limited,

    Hey Jamata,

Yup, I've given up on playing with this! I loaded/created my own cursor set from my old favorites dating back to Win95, but even after resizing the cursor(s), with my cursor editor/creator, to try and compensate for the display resolution percentages I simply cannot regulate the cursor(s) sizes that don't come with Win7.
T'would be nice.... but no go!!
(Maybe some day down the road... hello MS (knock, knock).... are you there??!!?? <G>)
