I currently have windows xp and vista set up on my system! When i boot up you get the choice of XP or Vista. Is there any way to change the boot to go XP by default rather than Vista? ie not having highlight XP and pressing enter.

    Many Thanks

Start > Run > msconfig > Boot.ini > highlight the one you want to be default > click "set as default" button.

Since there's Vista in the mix, boot.ini will probably not be there; but rather Vista's boot loader.

The easy way to work with that is to download the free Vista BootPro.

Yes, that's the way I did it. This is Vista's boot manager and the way normaly done with XP doesn't work.

The option is Manage OS entries > set default and the timeout.

It's still worth a try and I'd like to hear the results since I don't have Vista.

    MS says:

That adds enough confusion doesn't it? They need help. :D Actually, we need help. Don't you just love the fact that you are practically forced to rely on some 3rd party tool to help cope with the new OS?

    LOL, yes.

Dual booting Vista/XP isn't as easy as with 9X/XP or XP/XP was.

Some issues I've noticed so far:

In a dual boot environment, Vista's SR points are wiped out after a reboot. Why, I have no idea

Drive imaging with the built in imager images XP along with Vista - no choice.

One of the advantages of using the VistaBootPro app is it saves and can reload XP's boot files, turning it into a single boot system, and does the same for Vista.

    Regards - Charles
