Please / Thanks: Windows 2000 5.0; how do I change default image viewer from Quicktime Picture Viewer 2.0.1.41 to Adobe Photoshop Elements?

ADD-ON: I just read the following instructions in someone else's posting:
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer
Go to Tools menu then Folder Options
Go to the File Types tab
Find the extension you wish to change the opening program for.
When selected this extension in list, down below choose the Change button in the Opens With area.

Did that, specified Photoshop, but when I am in Windows Explorer and click on a .jpg file, it still opens in Quicktime viewer ... ???

What do you mean "Uninstall Picture Viewer "? Do you mean remove QuickTime software from my computer entirely? That is not what I want. What I want is what I stated in my first message: to change the default so I can specify which program is to be used as the viewer.

What I'm saying is to uninstall QT, reassociate graphic files with Photoshop.
If it works, reinstall QT, but pay close attention during installation, so QT doesn't get associate with any graphic files.

Thanks -- but by "reassociate" do you mean I must go to each and every .jpg file and "reassociate" it somehow? I've not heard that term used related to computer stuff. It seems to me this is going the long way around, when there should be one "preferences" or some such which says "default image viewer" and I choose "Photoshop" or whatever I want. Is that not so?
