The ancient computer with win 2000 OS finally died beyond repair. It is in a Lodge and is not on line. It has 10 yeas worth of Data that has been stored onit and CDs and flash drives made on it; MS. Works Database, Mail Merge program etc. which is not compatible with anything newer than Win Xp. Is there any way to make this Win 2000 Data compatible with a later system than Win. XP? Would like to go to Win 7 if possible . It will take me several days to redo all this data to Win 7.

Hello Neil:This is a custom built machine built in 1998 With Word 2000 installed.
This machine is in a Masonic Lodge. All the data is saved on the hhd, CDs, floppy disk and thumb drives there is 200 names on 2 different Databases, set up to mail merge dues Statements etc. I am the Secretary and I really don't want to set up another program to do all this on another OS. I know it is not compatible with Win 7 but is compatible with Win.Xp. I believe since it is not on line internet. Win.XP should not give to many problems. we are getting a refurbished Dell Desk top machine.

what do you think of this plan? going to Xp would save me many Hrs. I realize XP is not supported by Windows anymore. this Machine will not be used over 8 hrs per month. Thanks for your opinion

    Best wishes, Johnny

Should be OK if the XP comp is not open to the Internet. Neil.
