I cannot find out how to change the background color of desktop icons to a color. With a busy desktop photo, the program icons are difficult to read. It seems to me in a past Windows version (XP maybe?) we could choose background color and text color to aid visibility. I tried Iconoid, but it doesn't work on W10. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked in Start > Settings > Personalization?
Also, Right click Start > Control Panel > Personalization and you should be able to select what you want. Neil.

I was researching this the other day, It turns out that they have removed the option in 10. If you wish to change the background color of the desktop icons you will have to select one of the High contrast themes. There is only 4 to choose from atm. The word is that they are working on future update to add more but I dont count on it. Bummer I know. :(

The upcoming major update to Windows 10 coming in november is said to have more customizing ability such as color adjustment to window title bars and Icon customization. Not sure if this will include the feature you were looking for. It can be done now thru theme adjustments but are tied to other areas which conflict. Maybe a half step forward. We will see.
