    Dear Friendly folk,

The following malware--Ceres, offeroptimizer, and a pop-up browser called iSearch-- has crept its way into my computer somehow. I've run Norton Anti-Virus, SpyBot, and AdAware-SE Personal to no avail. I've done searches on the files to delete them, but access is denied.

I've read in other posts about Hijack This. I've downloaded that and can send along a log page. Should I do that?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Best,
    Anthony

    HJT post

Hi Tony T. Thanks so much for your help. Here's the HJT logfile. You can see I've been floundering around. I also understand that Spyware STormer is suspect, and should be removed. I could use some instructions on that too, if you can.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS atognazz :)

It appears you have a new nasty infection, which infects explorer.exe, and currently has only one known fix that works. Follow the instuctions in this link, let us know if you have problems with any of it, and post a new HijackThis log along with a log from the KAV scan when done.
