Ceres HiJackThis Log Help Remove

Hello, I have run ad-aware, spy-bot, and the microsoft antispyware program. I still have ceres. I have run hijackthis and here is the log file. Can someone please help me remove ceres and any other spyware that i dont notice if you see it in this log file. PS. When you say remove so and so tell me how please, never used hijackthis. Thank you.

Sorry to bother you people again, but can someone please help me. My wife is really getting annoyed by these Ceres windows popping up. She said it was like that after our 8 year old daughter was on the other day. We would love to get rid of this.

 

Gotta be patient. More spyware problems than spyware-fixing-experts on the forum just now and researching these things to post a complete fix will burn your brain out if you try to do too many.

Ceres sorta digs itself into your system and can be tricky to remove. Incomplete attempts often just make things worse.

 

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and OK. Yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode. Logon to you user account.

Now in safe mode, you will need to show hidden files and folders, as well as system files and extensions for known file types.

Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the file pxjterot.exe.
Open C:\Temp if present, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open the control panel, then internet options and delete the temporary internet files, checking the box for offline content. Then open the Java Plug-in, click the cache tab and then clear. This will only apply if you have installed Sun Java.
Open Ad-aware and run in full scan mode. Delete all it finds.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and OK.
Uncheck the /safeboot box in msconfig and ok to reboot.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entry. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

Download The Killbox from here: http://tools.zerosrealm.com/killbox.zip

Unzip the files to a folder, then open and double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following:

C:\windows\system32\pxjterot.exe


Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot ". On the next screen, click on the File menu and choose "Add File ". The filename and path should show up in the window. If that's successful, choose the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot ". Reboot when prompted.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

NVIDIA Driver Helper Service which gets installed under Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 by the NVIDIA drivers for some of their graphics cards (or graphics cards based on an NVIDIA chipset). We do not at this stage know what this process does except consume memory ! And we also have no idea as to what a "Driver Helper Service" is supposed to do !!

Recommendation :
This service is often responsible for various glitches, from significant shutdown delays to excessive memory usage. Disabling it, however, does not result in our experience in any ill-effect in regards to the proper operation of your NVIDIA or NVIDIA chipset graphics card, so we recommend that you definitely set the Startup Mode of this service to Disabled. You can do this by going to start>run, type services.msc, hit enter. Locate the service in the list and right click>properties. Stop the service, then disable, apply and OK out.


Re-enable system restore and create a manual restore point.

Also recommend you open Spybot and click mode on the toolbar, then advanced mode. Click immunize in the left pane, then immunize again, this time from above with the green + beside it. Click the link below that for SpywareBlaster, download, install, enable all protection and update. Check for updates regularly. Then, still in Spybot, click tools button, then IE tweaks and at least lock the HOSTS file.
Then download and install IESpyad.

That will give you some added layers of protection against unwanted parasites.

One other major problem I see is no Antivirus software or firewall running. Suggest you click here and get something downloaded, installed and updated ASAP.
