I have had little success for about two weeks now. I have tried everything and am just short of format *.*. I know that Ceres and iSearch are likely the cause. Will someone take a look at my Hijackthis log and let me know of a better course of action. Thank you

Please download, update and run the MS AntiSpyware beta, allowing it to remove whatever it finds. It's been reported to be one of the few apps that can effectively remove, and the only one to properly repair, one of the infections you appear to have. When done, please post a new HijackThis log.

I have tried this, noahdfear, with no success. It detects and removes them, but upon reboot they are there again.

Please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the results from the MS AntiSpyware scan. Open MSAS and click Tools>Spyware Scan>View Spyware Scan History. Highlight the lastest scan and click View full details in lower right corner. Copy the opening window and paste it here.

Please use this online malware scanner to check C:\Windows\explorer.exe and let us know the results.

The scan log shows all of those detected threats as ignored. Scan again and when the scan is complete, make sure each of the items are set to remove. Reboot and post a new log.

I strongly suggest you install not only an AntiVirus program, but a firewall as well. AVG and Zone Alarm are both free.

Not trying to hog this thread:)

I noticed your comment above about installing microsoft's antispyware. I did install and use it for about a week now, and assumed it was working properly. Out of curiousity I turned off their spyware, turned ad-aware back on, and ad-aware found 30 new errors as opposed to microsoft's log saying there were zero errors. I dunno??!! Besides, I noticed the microsoft comment on that the spyware expires July, 2005. I guess we'll have to start paying them too. lol

I have run Microsoft Spyware tools and I can only send them to quariantine then I can delete the quarantined files. That is what I have done and the results are posted below.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Search] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrirpm.exe
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Unimodem - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fpp8037ue.dll

Either reboot and repeatedly tap F8 to enable the start menu and select safe mode, or go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and click OK. Click yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode. Logon to your user account.

Open C:\Windows and delete the folder isrvs.
Open C:\Windows\system32 and delete the files nrirpm.exe and fpp8037ue.dll if present.
Open the control panel, then internet options and delete the temporary internet files, checking the box for offline content.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and click OK.

If you used msconfig, uncheck the /safeboot box and click ok to reboot. Upon reboot you will be greeted with a message window from the System Configuration Utility. Check the box not to use and don't show, then click OK. If you used F8, just reboot back into Windows.

    Please download L2mfix

    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

Great! Scan again with HijackThis and fix the following entry.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrirpm.exe

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Reboot and delete the file nrirpm.exe
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
    Empty the recycle bin.

Scan your PC with RAV. If any files are infected, click the report button then copy and paste it here. If it's clean, re-enable system restore and create a manual restore point.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

    Fix this entry again.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrirpm.exe

Download Pocket Killbox from here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Extract the file to a folder, then open and double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrirpm.ex

Check the box to delete on reboot and click the red X to the right. Click Yes, then Yes again to reboot.

    Post a new log.
