    Hello all,

A new problem...I just discovered that I can no longer play a DVD or CD as a CD or DVD. The discs will only open as a data disc would, and will not open a platyer to play them automatically. I don't know when this problem began exactly...maybe in the last few days or so. I am fully updated, and am also running the latest versions of WMP, Quick Time, and Real Player. My DVD player of choice is Cyberlink PowerDVD, but it will not even be recognized when inserting a DVD into the drive. I even uninatalled and reinstalled, to no avail. All of the other players work when I manually choose them. I tried running the Microsoft Autofix tool, and no dice. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
    Brad

    Hi Pete,

Yes, that is the program. I got it from this group some time ago. It worked for me in the past, but not this time.

I'll check out the other link and report back.

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

    Autoplay Fixed!

    Hi Pete,

I applied some of the registry changes from the link that you sent me, and after a couple of reboots, the problem was fixed. My DVDs play again and I am able to run System File Checker with no problems (when Autoplay was broken, my XP disc could not be recognized).

All is right with the world once again.:D

    Thanks again!
    Brad
