I've got an old Pentium 166 with 64MG ram, in which i'd like to put a cdrw. Now i found a model on sale for 29 bucks at Office Max. That is it was 80 bucks with 50 bucks worth of rebates. So it seemed like a good deal for what I was doing. Problem is the system requirements said that a P2 400 was the minimum hardware required, but other more expensive CDRw's Simply required a "pentium Class" computer. Anyway the model was the Cendyne 48x12x48 (which i discovered has Lite-on guts and and a Cendyne faceplate). SO my question, really is could this CDRw actually run on my system, and if not why. And by why what I'm really asking is about the workings of CDRWs. Is there such thing as a "WinCDRW ", like the old Winmodems? Does this make sense??

    anyway, thanks for your input.

I fear that it will not work faultlessly on your system and you are likely to end up with a lot of coasters as the data being fed by your system will be much slower than CD-RW will expect.

However, why not try it out for your self. Ensure that it is jumpered and connected as the Secondary Slave if you have a CD Rom as you Secondary Master.

DO Not connect to the same IDE cable as your hard drive.
