I recently purchased a new computer with operating system Windows XP and a CD-RW drive. All I can do with my CDs is add new files or erase the CD completely. It will not allow me to erase just one file, or edit the file and save it to the CD. If I edit a file, it has to be saved as a new file, but it will not allow me to erase the old file. In other words, when I try to perform these functions, I get the message, "This is a read only file, and can not be changed, deleted, etc." My question is, do I need software that will enable me to do these functions, and if so, what should I get? If this message is not clear, please let me know.

First, are you using a CD-R or CD-RW blank cd?

I do not use XP cd writer software, I purchased software from

    Stopm, Inc. http://www.stompinc.com/index.phtml?stp

    RecordNow Max

    It works great for me.

Thank you for your reply. I am using CD-RW blank CD. The software you mentioned sounds like just what I need, so plan to order.
