Since installing win xp pro a year ago I have been having trouble with my cd/rw files coming up "read only."
I can't change them thru "folder options. "
I installed Easy CD Creater 5 Platinum and all the xp updates.

I have two CD/RW drives, an HP & a Toshiba.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    TomC

With one or two exceptions CD-R and CD-RW discs created within Roxio/Adaptec's Easy CD Creator or DirectCD software always have the "R "ead Only attribute set on them. Of course you knew this already:)

Usually I just open the properties of the file and click the apropriate check box. If this isn't working for you try using ATTRIB -r in the RUN box. You may have to do each folder and sub-folder and probably individual files because wildcards do not always work. Also, remember that the target must be in double quotes with correct case, e.g. attrib -r "C:TestAnythingtest.doc ".

Let us know if this works for you Tom.

You will not be able to change the Read only attribute until you copy the file/folders to the hard drive and then unset the attribute.

Just in case you were not aware of that fact.
