Purchased a buslink 48xcd-rw drive 48x12x48x. A friend of my installed the hardware and software. The software icon is on my desktop. The light will not go on the tower and I get messages about not finding a plug & play for this hardware. Can anyone please help me. I sincerely appreciate your responses. You were all very helpful during my last posting. Again, thanks.

Did this work after your friend installed it? Or did he install, didnt work, and left you the clean up? If you right click on my computer, properties, device manager, is the CD listed? If yours is listed, but has a red exclamation point on it. I would remove it from the device manager, and reboot and let windows re-detect it. If its not listed, and it never worked, then I would guess its not hooked up properly, cables not seated, etc..

Since the light on the CD drive does not come on indicating the CD drive isn't getting any power, like aleekat suggested, it sounds like the power plug either wasn't seated completely or wasn't plugged in at all. Most power plugs take a fair amount of force to seat.

Also, I've read that Buslink CD RW drives like to be alone on a cable.
