If they are both on the same cable, HD master, and CD slave.
If different cables, and one on each, then both master.

    Abraxas,
talking cables, I would like to get some opinions on the idea that I am toying around with.
My mobo has 4 IDE Controller conections beeing a Raid board but I am not using Raid just taking advantage of the extra 2 IDE conectors. I am planing to install a second HD I have a DVD Rom and a Burner + my LS 120 Super Floppy also IDE NB. The 2 Raid conectors are ATA100 only.
I want to install both hard drives on seperate Round IDE cables on the ATA 100 conectors, and my 2 CD drives also on seperate Round cables on the 2 standard IDE conectors and I have a ATA 100-133 PCI Controller Card for the LS120 Floppy drive.
    What Jumper would they have?
    First HD Master
    Second HD secondary master ??
DVD Rom and Burner both Master ??
and Floppy on PCI Controller ??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

That looks right to me. So long as nothing but HD's are on the RAID/IDE controllers and your DVD/ CD are on the standard IDE's, they can be all masters.

Not sure what your question was exactly, but the config you suggest seems to be the optimal one with all masters being used. On the other hand, it might be advantageous to put your sys drive on one of the 133's and just put one of the opticals on secondary.

    Abraxas,
Thank you, you more or less answered my question, one thing though I would like to ask you is; my reason for placing both optical drives on the standard IDE connectors was that both are ATA100 drives and I do burn on the fly and I thought it was ideal for that. What I would like to know is would they be working better both being on the PCI Controller Card and the Super Floppy which is only ATA33 on the standard connector on the mobo?
Also what is your opinion on the newer type of shieldet round IDE cables.
Reason with flat Ribbons it will be very crowdet in that Case. and it could restrict the airflow.
    Thanks again
