i have a sony vaio whose DVD and CD ROM drives suddenly decided to not work on their own. when i go into device manager they show up with a yellow exclaimation point next to them, indicating there is something wrong. so i uninstalled and reinstalled them and still nothing. i tried updating them also to no help. so i then downloaded new drivers off the internet and i cant get the computer to recognize them. any ideas on what to do?

    thanks in advance

    Hi,

Try "removing" the drives in Device Manager, then shutdown and restart.

I don't know a Sony Vaio, but if it is a PC (not a laptop with built-in drives) and the above doesn't work, again "remove" the drives in DM, shutdown, open the case and disconnect the power and data cables to the drives, start the computer and do a full boot to Windows. Shutdown and reconnect the cables.
