In the past week, I noticed that both my CD player and the burner just seem to open at random when I am working on my computer and not using either one. Does anyone know the cause of this and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

Most probably a hardware malfunction or malware.

To check hardware, goto BIOS when the system is booting & let it remain for 15-20 minutes [or whatever interval your cd starts this behaviour]. If it still opens up, its most probably a hardware issue, else its malware.

It does not happen very often and when it does the system has been booted up for some time. My NAV is always scanning my sytem and usually only finds cookies which I immediately delete. I might agree with a defective drive issue, but this happens to both drives and it is unlikely that both went bad at the same time. Perhaps it is malware, but it also might be related to a program I have that copies CDs.
    Thanks for your response.
