I have the MSI CD-RW MS-8348 CD burner that seems to have mind of its own. When I attempt to burn CD w/ Nero it spits the CD out or it doesn’t even recognize that the CD is already in.

    My OS is XP professional

    Any Ideas?

Nero could be conflicting with the in-built Windows burner.

    Try this :-
In My Computer, right-click the RW drive, Properties, Recording Tab and uncheck 'Enable CD recording....'.

    IT worked!!!
Everything was copied properly, at least acording to Nero but now I have a problem reading it on CD/DVD drive. It must be another thing not set up properly.

Are you using the INCD drag and drop burn or are you burning using the nero wizard (burning rom) ?
Is this the same cd/dvd or a different device?
If different device have you closed/ finalized the session? Otherwise it can often just be read on the device which wrote it with the software which wrote it.

I just experienced this a couple of days ago. Go to the device manager. Check the IDE controller with the CD drive. Make sure that the drive is in DMA mode not PIO mode.

Hope fully this will fix your problem
