I need to make a cd boot disc and have it recongize a usb thumb drive that would be pluged into the computer on boot-up. The USB thumb drive would have a bat and exe file on it that need to start when the computer boots before going into windows.

    Your post is slightly confusing.
You say you need a boot cd w/ usb support so a usb drive will be recognized. This is easy and has been done, available online in many forms. It just depends on what os is on the cd that is booting, such a linux "live" cds or bart's "live" windows cds.

But you say this has to occur before windows starts. Do you mean the windows os on a cd or on the hard drive? What exactly are you trying to accomplish.

In order to run a bat file and an exe file there needs to be an operating system loaded & running, such as dos or linux or windows.

It will be used to boot Windows systems into DOS, as the program that needs to run that is on the USB drive is a DOS program. I need the computer to boot into DOS so I can access the different files on the hard drives and on the USB drive.

Someone told me that I have to have something in the Config.sys on the CD that has the info to load USB drivers?

I guess that the answer to this is DOS

Reason for USB thumb drive having the DOS program on it is so that the data that the program is obtaining is then loaded directly to the thumb drive for viewing on another machine.

that is the reason I am looking for where I can make a CD DOS BOOT DISC with USB support on it so that it recoginized the thumb drive that is pluged into the computer on start up. I can find how to make a DOS bootable CD but not one that has the USB support on it.
