It is possible to change the icon for shortcuts because there is a default store of icons accessible to the procedure for 'changing icons'. By what procedure can I add copies of the ones available at http://www.geekpedia.com/icons.php?start=1160 to that default store ?

    Quite straightforward ....

Save your new icons to a folder on your hard drive - say Icons

The URL you posted has the icons in .png format - you will need to convert them to .ico files. This works .....

    http://www.convertico.com/

Right click on the shortcut icon you wish to change > Properties > Change icon and navigate via browse to the Icons folder you created - select the new icon and Apply.

You cannot add to the Windows store location nor do you need to.
