My OS is Windows 98 First Edition.

In 1999 I used 98Lite freeware to strip out *all* of IE-- I only use and favor Netscape. To fix and add certain software, I recently was forced to install IE 6 in my PC. But when I did this I noticed a weird thing. For folder and subfolder names that were originally composed in all capital letters and were a single name with no other word(s) behind that name (such as BNG), now only the first letter remains capitalized--> BNG has become Bng. Also weirdly, if a word followed some acronym - as example, "DLL Archive" (without the quotes) - then that name remained unchanged--> "DLL Archive" remained "DLL Archive" as a folder name.

Even the name of my hard drive, the C drive - once all capital letters
    - is now "Sps ".

What's happened and how do I fix this so that I get certain folder and subfolder names back in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS? [When I simply change the name in Windows Explorer, the name instantly reverts to, say, Bng instead of remaining BNG after renaming.]

    Is some file missing?
Does something in the Windows registry have to be altered or added?
Will your advice or recommendations also apply to changing the name of my hard drive, changing it back to SPS?

[My OS is Windows 98 First Edition. And I still have IE 6 on my HD.]

    Thanks,

    Stan

I think (from my aged memory) in Control panel, Folder Options there is a View Tab where you can set names to capital letters.

    Apologies if I'm wrong.

I checked Control Panel but I suspected you meant Explorer. So I opened Explorer and under 'View | Folder Options | View' I made the change back to all CAPS.

    Thanks for your help!
