can't view pictures

When receiving an e-mail with pictures (as a htm file attachment) I can open the attachment and I get text. However, the pictures will not open (get a little red x box instead). How do I get the pictures to show. I have XP professional, and use earthlinmk.net.
Please advise.

What are you using for an e-mail client? Outlook Express, Outlook or some other e-mail program or are you going directly to Earthlink's web mail? Little more info would be great.

 

I am using Earthlink TotalAccess Mailbox.

 

I had them before and had different troubles. I finally just created an account in OE and the problems seemed to cease other then if they went down for Maint. or some other reason.
