Whenever i try to update either Spybot S&D or SpywareBlaster i am informed:

Cannot establish a connection to download.
Please check your Internet connection and try again.

The only way i can update them at the moment is to disable the "free" version of ZoneAlarm i am running. In ZoneAlarm's program control i have allowed anything with Spybot or SpywareBlaster full access to the Internet yet it still won't allow them access unless i disable ZoneAlarm? Help someone please. Thanks

daimine, is this something new that just began? Had you always been able to update with no problems previously? Do any other programs have any problems accessing the Net?

Hi TeMerc, I have only been running Windows XP and the following security programs for a few days, Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot S&D, and SpywareBlaster and for some reason i can't update any of them? I am also running Norton Internet Security and i have no problem updating that! I have made sure that any program with Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot S&D, and SpywareBlaster are given full access to the Internet in ZoneAlarm's Program Control. I get online via a Netgear DG834G Modem/Router could this be blocking the security programs from accessing the Internet? Could Norton Internet Security be the culprit? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

OK, AFAIK, NIS also has a firewall, so you're running both ZA and Norton fw??

Conflict right there if you are, un-install the ZA and go with Norton's, for one you likely bought it and it's a better fw anyway.

Problem solved! NIS only came on a free trial so as soon as i un-installed it and then installed AVG all programs were able to update. Thanks TeMerc
