    Hi,
I am using Netscape 8.04 as my default browser for right now. Today when I went to update my extensions, I got the following message " Update has been disabled by your administrator ". (and I haven't disabled anything so that was a surprise to me)

I have never updated the extensions of themes I had installed, so this is the first time I ever saw that message. How can I fix this problem so I can update them? TIA

I don't know about the administrator part, part extentions are not part of NS8.x. A few of them may work, but the compatibility is lost in a jiffy as soon as you upgrade NS8.x. I had a couple of extention working in 8.0.4 (forecastfox and roboform), and neither one is compatible with 8.1. I would never select any Netscape as default, especially the 8.x types.

    Vanilla Ice,

Here is a list of Netscape 8.1 Compatible Themes. Altho these are for Version 8.1, I imagine that they will also be compatible for 8.0.4.

These are a few more that Jay Garcia has made compatible...

Thanks Westside and Ramona. I searched and searched online and the MSKB and I can't find anything relative to that error message anywhere. so, I don't know what it means either. I only have 3 extensions installed, and 2 themes, but guess maybe I will just uninstall them and go with what Ramona shared, or just not use any at all. Thanks again for responding so quickly.

Update---I solved the problem of not being able to update my extensions and themes by just --Creating a new profile and then installing the same themes and extensions in it.Then when the new profile was all working correctly, I deleted the old profile. Don't know why I got that disabled message in the other old profile when trying to update them, but everything is now cool, when updating both the extensions and themes. Just thought this info might be of some use if they ever encounter the " update disabled by your administrator" message in Netscape.

    Thanks VI!

When in doubt a new Profile is often the cure all!
