Hi all, trying to shrink my C: partition in Computer Management to clear some space for a second partition for Ubuntu (dual boot), but it gives me a maximum of 48 MB to shrink out of a 500 GB drive with 400 GB free.

I just disabled the page file and hibernation so those unmovable files are gone. Also just defragged with Auslogics and the only unmovable files I see are at the beginning (first 20%) of the drive. Also just ran checkdisk at startup, no errors found.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Windows Disk Management will NOT shrink any partition past the first immovable (locked) file it runs into. If that file is near or at the end of the partition then it will show a small amount of bytes or 0 bytes to shrink. Use Gparted, a free disk tool.
