    I've tried endlessly to send files to other people but have yet to succeed. It started with an F-serve I was configuring. When people would try to log onto it they would not be ableto connect. It just timed out. Then I tried sending files through ICQ as well as AIM but was never successful in getting it to work.

    If anyone has any idea(s) as far as what I can to do remedy this, it would be greatly appreciated.

    In case you need to know, the setup is as follows:
    Cable Mode ---> Router ---> 10BaseT Hub/Repeater ---> Two Win2K computers
    Both computers feature the same IP address.

    As described, not posssible. The first one booted would use that IP address and the 2nd would fail to load networking.

    Are you running a firewall? If so, that could easily be blocking any IRC traffic as well as the ICQ/AIM/Whatever traffic.

    What IRC app are you using?

    Thanks for the IRC information.

    Still need to know another thing or two though.

    1. What computer names and ip/netmask numbers are you using?
    2. Do you have a firewall running?
    3. Can you connect to other IRC servers and get data from them?
    4. Are you simply trying to swap files between your two W2K boxes or with internet users?

    Well Newt, I got the file sending problem corrected, but now whenever I try opening certain programs they will automatically close right after they open or Windows installer will start trying to install/uninstall stuff. I have NO idea why it's doing this. I was trying to open Norton WinDoctor to have it scan the computer for any problems but it closes about 5 (literally) seconds after it opens. Any ideas on what's up with that?

    If MSInstaller is doing things there should be some event log entries. Would help to know exactly what they are.

    Have you done a full virus scan using current defs?

    From a DOS window, chkdsk /f for each hard drive and reboot couldn't hurt.
