Hello all. I am new here and i have a quick question. I have been trying to edit my registry and when i click START>RUN and type in 'Regedit' i get an error message saying "this option has been disabled by your administrator." Now i know theres something wrong with that message because I AM the administrator. Im guessing a virus or spyware could be the culprit, im just praying that i dont have to reformat:(

AMichelle - Welcome to the Board :)

Don't even think of the possibility of a reformat - highly unlikely that this would be required - but you do have all your data backed up - don't you ? :)

First try this fix from Doug Knox which toggles the setting .....

Disable/Enable Registry Editing tools in Windows

If this does not work for you then your computer may be infected with a virus - scan online using one of the links given through Quicklinks in my signature.

If the problem persists post back and we will delve deeper.
