My computer is totally wrecked, I can't right click on any files, it just hangs, and after a minute the computer is responding again but no right click dialog opens.

I checked all the file types, all the drives, it's the same thing

I've checked with MCafee, up to date, no virus. I checked with spybot, up to date too, nothing.

I checked what programs I am running, nothing special in the task manager.

I checked rebooting, many times, it didn't work.

I checked system restore it says I don't have enough free space, wich is false.

    please help, I'm desperate...

Pagefile.sys???? This can corrupt or attribute mess up on occasion. What size is it? You can, c prompt delete it. Inability to do many things such as you describe can happen when the machine resources are depleted or tied up such as previously described, possible cpu is at 100% due to unknown/as_yet_mystery reason.

Cntrl/alt/del should bring up taskmanager. Look for clues to see if the cpu usage is sky rocketing, see who's hogging the resources, end task on anything suspicious or problematic. Watch the "processes tab" for a bit. See if one of these puppies starts using a large chunck of the CPU, Watch for processes that seem to pop in and out of the list. Look for odd named processes, particularly ones with numbers in the name.

Startmenu>runline>type msconfig use a diagnostic startup....diasble startups or any other various methods of disable/enables.

How sure are you that something unexpected hasn't occured and a file has gotten so bloated as to actually use your free space? What's the stats on a properties check for your harddrive/partition?

SIDENOTE: P2P file sharing such a Kazza (or however this spelled) is known for download goofs that lock system resources up, hogging cpu at 100%. Just mentioning this in case something like his amy apply or be possible. Trojans/mail_worms not detected or beyond a virus scanners ability to detect should always be considered and watched for, particularly when your system bogs down intermitenly as you described. Using one of the more popular free on-line virus scanning sites, such as those provided by Mcaffee, Panda, and Symantec is good way of eliminating this as a possibility. The list of free on-line scanners available is pinned to the board in the "Virus Forum ".
Something is going on during this hang time...your mission is to discover what that something is.

Based on this symptom, i would think that the problem is a malfunctioning shell extension. Perhaps you have SP2, and installed (or had installed) something that isnt compatible with DEP.

This is relatively painless to test for. Download ShellExView and use it to disable all non-microsoft extensions (you can sort by manufacturer). Disable them, reboot and see if your problem is resolved. If so, then start enabling them a few at a time until you get your culprit.

This is a pretty common problem, and easy enough to fix. If using shellexview raises some questions, please ask, we can walk you through it.
