can't resolve host. Need help dadly.

    Hi,
I am using XP home, Netscape 7.1, local network and a router. Before this problem everything is working fine. This problem happened about two months ago. The problem is after I sufer the web for a short while, Netscape will tell me "can't resolve host ". I have to reboot my pc in order to sufer the web again. But once "can't resolve host" happen, I can't go any web address. However I still can go to different pages in the same web site is already on the browser. After I reboot the PC I can't sufer again. A few monment later the "can't resolve host" happen again.

Can anyone tell what is wrong and how to fix it?

I need help very badly. Sometimes I have to reboot every few mminutes.

    thank you for any help

    Hi, welcome to the WindowsBBS!

Read this article: Adjust Windows XP DNS Cache Settings

Instead of rebooting, next time it happenes, open a command prompt (Run > CMD) and type: ipconfig /flushdns

You can also try following that up with ipconfig /renew

    Hi Arie,
    Thanks for the help.
I tried the ipconfig /flushdns before but it didn't help.
I will try the ipconfig /renew next time and see how it turns out.
I will post the result here.
Once again thanks for the help.

Your event logs should have more detail on the exact problem.

I'd go now and dump the existing contents of both the system and the applications logs to get a clean start. Then the next time you get the error, check the logs and when you find an entry or entries that look like they might be related, put them in a post here.

Easiest way to do that is open the event, click on the icon below the up/down arrows on the right side of the window (sends a text copy to your clipboard) and paste the entire event into your reply.

Also it's always a good idea when you are having strange networking errors to check for a firmware update for the router and if you find one, load it.
