Can't resolve friendly names

    I just Installed IE6.0 on a NT4.0 w/sp6a box, I can connect to my ISP with no problems. In IE6 however trying to browse with friendly names in the address box, for example http://www.Windowsbbs.com, explorer reports "Can't find server ".
    IF however I put in a IP address, for example www.192.168.45.230 I can get to web sites. Since Ameritech.net will not give tec support for NT I'm stuck. Can anyone help??

    The adddress you can get to 192.168.45.230 is a private address on a LAN. Not accessible from the Internet. Normally. Can you ping www.windowsbbs.com or 64.246.0.184?

    Yes, sorry I was just using 192.164.45.230 as an example of an IP address. I seem to be able to git to any public addresses by using the IP address. It's the friendly names I can't seem to resolve.

    I doubt the problem lies with Internet Explorer, but rather DNS in your system config, LAN, or possibly your ISP.
