When I installed RoadRunner (high speed access), I also kept my old local dialup ISP service as assurance. Everything works quite smoothly except for sending some mail.

Before I explain, keep in mind that I now connect via RoadRunner and when I click "send/recieve mail ", Outlook recieves email from both my new Roadrunner email account and from my old local ISP(formerly a 56K dialup). It's kinda cool.

Here's the problem. I recieve an email destined to my old ISP account name. I click "Reply" when ready to send my reply. I get the popup error that indicates that the server is not recongized.

Clearly, what's happening is that roadrunner is sending my email to 'mail.myOldLocalISP.com'. That makes sense to me. But the old local ISP is rejecting it because the sender is not authorized or some such thing.

Is there a work around for this?

PS. I know I could send this mail from the new address but I don't want to.

    Here is the popup error:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'johndoe@somesite.com'. Subject 'Re: job', Account: 'mail.planetkc.com', Server: 'mail.planetkc.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 not local host kcc.usda.gov, not a gateway', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I fixed this problem minutes later.

Here is my fix I discovered just after posting the problem.

Click >Tools>Accounts>Properties>Servers(tab), then under "outgoing mail server" , I checked the box labeled "My server requires authentication ".

Voila, fixed! And it's here for all the see.
