    Here is a strange one...

Had a problem last week (got that problem fixed here) and it caused a Folder (un-named) to be created in My Computer.

When I right click on lt, I get the options to create short cut, delete or copy.

When I left click on it, nothing happens.

I tried to delete it and it will not go away.

If I pick the choice in View - Explorer Bar - Folders and Details, it is listed as a System Folder "

Any deas on HOW to get rid of it???

Check this registry key for a CLSID key that has no value entered for it. If there's one there delete it and see if that takes care of it. Back the key up first just to be on the safe side.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\mycomputer\NameSpace\

OK, I looked there and found 4 keys and all have "Default ", so I am assuming that that covers the 4 regular folders. There is no key listed for the 5th "Un-named" folder

What is the data for each of the keys? Mine has three. The data for each of them is dialup-networking, scheduled tasks and web folders. If you have these three what's the fourth? If there's no data listed for it, that's the one you want.

OK, fixed it. There was 1 for Ws_FTP Pro and that did NOT belong there.

    Thanks for the quick help!!!

No doubt it was left there by a bad uninstall. Oh well. Glad to hear you got it straightened out.

Actually it did not happen due to a bad uninstall. Happened on the 6th reboot while trying to fix THIS problem:

    http://www.WindowsBBS.com/showthread.php?threadid=24068&goto=newpost

I can't figure out WHY it happened, but I think the stage was set when I upgraded to AOL 9.0 and it installed I.E. 6.0 (I was running 5.5).

Now get this, 1 of the fixes I tried (from another board) was to "repair" 5.5, so I did (even though I was running 6.0), which did not work.

Funny thing now, according to I.E. "About ", I am running 5.5 AFTER I installed 6.0!!! I wondered what happen to 6.0??? (I did install the MS patch for it after I upgraded AOL). Note: AOL is still 9.0.

Go figure, AOL and MS can't do nothing right!!!

Glad I use netscape 7.1 and Eudora 6.0 (FAR better programs!!!)

Looks like you've been having fun! Would've bet a sack of donuts that an uninstall caused it. Oh well, at least it's fixed. All that's left is to sit and wait to see if any other gremlins show up. :)
