I'm using BellSouth DSL lite with Windows XP. Outlook express is the mail program. I receive attachments(jokes, cartoons, photos) ok from everyone who sends them except from one source who sends them from her place of work(a hospital accounting office). If I send her an attachment it arrives there ok. Her attachments arrive ok at my brother's computer. He forwards them to me, and they arrive ok. We've had this problem while I used Earthlink dialup as an ISP, and changing to BellSouth made no difference. I've enabled and disabled the various options under Tools>Options>Security with no change. This problem predates SP2. It is not a big deal, but it sure would be nice to fix this problem. I don't know what email program the sender uses, and it is my suspicion that it has something to do with settings in her computer. She insists that everyone else receives her attachments ok.
    Thanks.

Check Internet Explorer and see if somehow her domain was added to your list of restricted sites.

Can't receive attachmnts from one specific source

    Hi Newt,
It's not there. I went to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>SECURITY tab, and looked through the list of restricted sites.
The party involved is my sister, the jokes don't come that often, so it's not a big deal. I'm just looking at this as a learning opportunity.
Thanks for the reply and your interest.

skaler2k--Can you provide a little more detail on what is happening? Do you get only the text portion of her email? Do you get the attachment but cannot open it? Do you know what file type the attachments are?

Can't receive attachmnts from one specific source

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for your interest. Yes, I get the text portion of her email. There is no evidence of any attachment, even though her email may say no more than: "This is really funny. "
Usually, if there is an attachment, there will be a paperclip symbol to the left of the email. There never is one from her, so it's not a matter of some attached file that I cannot open. It's just that there is nothing there.
    Thanks again Jim.
    Vic

    skaler2k--
Got me. But if you are not getting any indication of attachments, I suspect she is not sending them correctly. Does her email show a list of recipients? You could always email one of them (perhaps a little rude) and ask if indeed they are getting the attachments.
P.S. Do you know what program she is using to send these emails? Certain settings when sending from AOL or Outlook can causing problems for recipients.

Can't receive attachmnts from one specific source

    Hi Jim,
This has happened often enough between us that it has me stumped. As I mentioned, this is my sister who works in a billing office at a hospital. I'll ask her what mail service she is using. Among others, one other recipient is one of my brothers, and he, as well as all the other folks she addresses get the attachments. When the attachment is worth the extra effort, he forwards it to me. It arrives intact. She doesn't do this all that often, so I've never made a systematic effort to get to the bottom of this. I happen to be taking a few days off from work, so I thought I'd pursue this with the help of the fine folks here on this BB.
    Thanks again,
    Vic

If the hospital is of any size at all it should have a domain name for the email so ima.employee@community-cut_slash_rip.org and in that case, try adding community-cut_slash_rip.org to your list of trusted sites.

Not a good idea if she is using one of the public email things though like somewher.rr.com or aol.com or something.
