    Hi there,

I have just installed a new ink cartridge in my HP 932C and it doesn't immediately print a test page as it used to. It loads a sheet of paper, the blue LED comes on brightly, dims, brightens up and then the page spits out with no printing. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Can you print a test page from the Program itself?

Yes, from settings, control panel, printers, properties, I can print a two page test page, the first being text and coming out alright, but the second, I assume is supposed to be the colour bar page and it won't print.

Pull the cartridge back out and put it back in. See if that helps.

It does start the printer "restart" cycle again yes. It prints the text page and again, not the colour bar page. I am wondering if there might be an optical pickup beside the blue LED that is supposed to measure saturation, colour etc and this is blocked or on the fritz. I will look.

If it was working before you changed the cartridge - I go along with MrBill - it could be a faulty cartridge. I've had this more than once and just took it back to the supplier for a replacement. Neil.

If you have the old cartridge, pop it back again. If the printer starts printing again or gives you an ink error, its almost 100% bad cartridge.

    Its rare but it happens.

OK, I went back to the old cartridge and it was still empty but did cause the machine to attempt a test page. The test page did not print. Replaced the new cartridge and it also didn't print a test page. For both new and old cartridges, just the same as before, the carriage goes all the way to the left, the blue LED comes on, dims, brightens and then the test page aborts, spitting out a blank sheet of paper.

Most certainly a shorted new cartridge. The printer can't decide whether it has ink or not or even if its in there.

    Get a replacement.

OK, I feel silly about forgetting to mention that the printer does print. It prints colour. It just get's the shade off a bit. I printed a sepia tone photo and the colour was more gray. I think the colour is off because that self test mechanism that adjusts colour when you print a test page is not working.

That or it can't read one of the colors to make the color you want to make. Take it back.
