Windows 7 Pro, Outlook 2007. When I get pictures in emails sent to mefrom my wifes computer, I get a big empty box with the little red x. I have the correct box open in "open pictures ". Any ideas?

It seems to be only from my wifes computer that this happens. Windows 7 home premium with Windows live mail is what she has. It could be some setting on hers that needs to be corrected.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Which app is she suing to send mail?
What are the file types? (jpeg or bitmap etc)

Is she inserting the pics to the body of the mail or attaching them? I'm guessing she's inserting - ask her to try attaching to see what happens.

She is using Windows Live Mail, and the ones I can't open are in forwarded emails she recevies from various people, .jpg is the most common one, but other common types from time to time also. Her phonto sofetware if the one in Windows 7.

Have her copy+paste the messages instead of forwarding them.
Or check her settings in her mail client to ensure it's set to forward images.

In Outlook 2007, open the message by double clicking the message in list. In the Find section click Select > Select All.
Right click selected content > select Copy.
New message > right click in message area > select Paste.

I really hate that Office 2007 did away with the user friendly menus atop message windows.

The messages are being sent from Windows Live Mail to Outlook, so that doesn't really apply to this problem. Getting Windows Live Mail to work correctly is the problem. Any ideas on that?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    In Live Mail:
Highlight the text & images you want to copy or cut.
Copy: Press Ctrl-C (hold down the Ctrl and press C) to copy.
Paste: Press Ctrl-V (press V while holding down the Ctrl key) to paste.

When she forwards a message to you, Outlook will by default block the images in the forwarded message because they are not embedded in the message, they are located on the WWW somewhere. In Outlook, you must click the "show images" bar. If wife is in your address book then the images will show automatically.

However, a forwarded message is "not really from your wife ". Even though she sends it, Forward is quite different than Reply. The email headers contain the Forwarded info and Outlook interprets that as a "dangerous" message. Either Options or Junk Mail settings control this behavior.

As much as I dig MS software, I am really disappointed with Outlook 2007. Most HTML messages don't display as intended and composing HTML is horrible. MS removed the IE engine from Outlook and HTML messages are composed using Word. (Word is for print and poor at HTML)
