I can open any number of instances of PaintShop Pro, IrfanView, MS Paint, Paint.net or Inkscape, but not of Serif's DrawPlus.

Is there any way that I can achieve this?

Just plain open it or open it with a .something?

    Both.

The only file type which can be dragged and dropped onto the program's icon is one made by it, with a .dpp extension.

Anyway, once the program is open I can't open another instance of it either by clicking on its icon or by dragging and dropping onto the icon. If I do the latter, the file just opens in the already opened program without opening a second instance of it.

Does it open on the same page/tab or on another new page ?

Sorry, I don't understand your question.

Some programs don't necessarily launch a second copy of themselves if they are already active. They just create another new page of tab.

    I don't understand that either.

Once on instance of DrawPlus is open, nothing I do opens another one. If I click on a .dpp file it opens up in the open program, replacing the file, if there was one, which was already open.

That means that DrawPlus doesn't support MDI [Multiple Document Interface].

The best place to ask would be Drawplus forum.

Ok, thank you. That sounds a good idea. I shall search for a DrawPlus forum.

    Yes, thank you MrBill.

I went to the forum and discovered I had already registered there some time ago and had forgotten!

As has already been posted there are programs which will not permit multiple instances to be opened - Photoshop is another example.

It is not possible to run 2 or more incidences of, say, CS5 nor is it possible to run, say, CS5 & CS4 in tandem.

On the rare occasions when I need to have 2 incidences of PS running I open up one on the desktop and another on the laptop :)
