    Hi All,

This is a bit weird so please bear with me.

In the last month or so I have received 3 e-mails from two people I trust with attachments that I can't read. This is no big deal but it has become a thorn in my side simply because it makes no sense.

When I click on the 'paperclip' icon to open them I get the Paint Shop Pro icon followed by 'Fwd' and their subject titles. When PSP opens I get a message saying, "The specified file cannot be identified as a supported type." Type being .eml which doesn't show up anywhere in my PSP 7.04 associations list.

Okay, they have somehow become associated with PSP but how could they do that if PSP doesn't support the 'eml' extension in the first place? Duh, I'm

If anyone out there can explain this to me or offer a solution so it doesn't happen again, I will be extremely grateful.

    TIA :D

    Hi indutch
.eml is the extension used by outlook express for email. My first guess would be that the attachment has been forwarded (one inside the other)?

    Hi Daizy,

Is there any way to seperate them so I can see what was sent? I have saved them to disk but I still can't open them due to the PSP association.

    Thanks :)

I'm a little confused as to why they're being sent with the .psp extension? If they're pictures, shouldn't they be .gif's or .jpeg's

What happens when you double click on the .eml? Does your outlook express open?

Can't Open E-Mail Associated With PSP

PSP, jsl, pfr, & tub are PSP image file extensions & can only be opened with PSP.

First open the actual e-mail itself as many times as necessary, if it's been forwarded, to get to the PSP Icon attachment. Once this is done right click on the PSP icon shown in the white bar just above the text window where it says Attach & do a save as. Save it to wherever you want it, then open PSP & find the icon wherever you put it, from within PSP just like you would for a jpg, gif, or bmp. It should open it then.
PSP won't open the e-mail. You have to save the PSP attachment itself, not the e-mail, in order for PSP to open it.

    No joy

    Thank you Daizy & Deloris.

I gave up and asked both parties to resend them if they really thought I should see them. I'm still waiting.

    Thanks for your efforts. :D

    indutch,

    In regards to your PM.

I am sort of like Daisey. I don't understand why these people are sending you files with a PSP extension in the first place, however if I can be of help, I will be glad to try.
Just forward one to me at fiddlinmomma@yahoo.com & I will see what I can do to get it open. If I manage to get it open, I can possibly send you screen shots of how I did it.

Hold on! I just had a thought! If the extension is not one of the ones I gave you as a PSP extension image file, (psp, jfl, pfr, or tub) then perhaps the extension is a PPT, PPS, or POT. If it's any one of those three, then it is a Powerpoint file, not a PSP, and you'd need a Powerpoint viewer to open it.

Send it and I will see.

    Deloris.
