cant open documents

    hello everyone.
    l am having trouble with opening attachments that come with my emails.
    when l click on the attachment the acrobat reader does all its stuff and then l get a message saying : there was an error opening this document.file does not begin with '%PDF-'.
    l dont know how to fix it.l hope someone out there can help me.

    hi sunny.
    l downloaded the decoder but when l tried to open it,it came up with the same message.
    l also tried to download the pdf thing that comes up when l open the acrobat reader,but it said it couldnt create an account outside the united states and l live in australia.
    thanks for trying though
    maybe lm downloading the wrong thing or something

    Not quite sure what your problem is - I just sent myself an email with a pdf file attached. File opened with no problems in Acrobat Reader 5.1 - as I would expect.

    Are we talking *.pdf files here or other files? Are you sure that you are not trying to open,say, a *.doc file in Acrobat Reader.

    Can you give more detail of the attributes of the attached files you are unable to open.

    You may have a problem with your file associations.

    hi petec and sunny.sorry l havent responded to your replies earlier.been busy.l looked into my acrobat reader to see if l could do anything(dont know what)and it is the 4.0 version.do you think that could be the problem?

    Have you tried saving the file to your desktop and then opening the file from there instead of directly from your email?

    There are more current versions of Acrobat Reader available. Installing a more current version may solve the problem you are having. Uninstall your old version before installing the new.
