    My Dad’s pc died, I mean really died. K6-2/233, 1gig, HD, 64mb ram. I had an old K6-2/300 not being used. 4gig HD, 256mb ram. So I decide to help him. I get a 40gig HD and put it in. I boot from the cd and load XP Home. All goes well until the first boot. It boots up with the administrator login prompt and I haven’t a clue what the password is. I tried the obvious to me, including no password at all. Anyone ever come across this before?

    Reformat-reinstall and pay closer attention to the install process. You see the part about the admin password..
