I use Google as a home page. I have to constantly save my preferences because Google says my cookies are not set right. I have followed their instructions to set them right and they still will not keep. Mozilla Firefox cookies work work fine. Any ideas how to tweak IE??

OLDSALTY--Can you be a little more specific about that message that says the cookies are not set right? Do you have www.google.com in your Restricted Sites? What are the settings for cookies in IETools|Internet Options|Privacy tab and Privacy tab|Advanced?

OLDSALTY--The message says "your cookies seem to be disabled ". Taking that at face value, you/we have to figure out what is disabling them. For example, do you use any cookie management program?
What are you doing when you get that message?
What are the "preferences" which are changing?
When you say "I use Google as a home page ", what Google site are you using?
I do not use Google as a HomePage so have no direct experience. However, I use www.google.com and google EMail all the time without problem. And my Privacy setting is at Medium High.

OLDSALTY--On the Google Preferences page, presume you are clicking Save Preferences at the bottom right before exiting.
Otherwise, you got me. As mentioned it seems, if the message is correct, that something is disabling cookies, but I have mentioned all the reasons I can think of.
Is this the only site giving this problem?

I checked the firewall and found 2 entries for google. I had X (block) in the 3rd party comumn. I put a check (allow) and everything is ok not. Thanks for using up some of those brain cells.

OLDSALTY--Thanks for posting back with the fix. Got to remember the firewall!! Although the error message was misleading. :)
